heart time

Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.

Heart Time is one or max. series of four weekly 45 min -60 min long sessions available to STF Missionaries and SOTH students that might combine elements of counseling, spiritual direction, inner healing (prayer), conversation, or mentoring, depending on the need and desire. Its goal is a realignment of desires, healing, and self-discovery in Trinitarian Presence.

When should you consider making an appointment:

  • when you go through darkness, pain, emotional struggle, suffering, grief (seeking peace in emotional health)

  • advise and accompaniment to discovering the state of your spirit, soul, and body health on the way of seeking the peace of heart or when you need to make an important decision in your life and you lack clarity (help in equipping you with the tools of discernment)

  • when you have a hard time in self-love, or when your spiritual growth is stalled for a long time, when you need spiritual alignment: discerning desires, thinking, habitual patterns of thinking, and acting (counseling)

  • when you need to resolve relationships issues associated with your past or when you need to explore affective, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of the problems you are experiencing (inner healing)

  • when you experience burnout in ministry or desire personal growth in leadership (mentoring)

What it is NOT:

  • therapy, although it might include a few elements of basic therapy

  • professional counseling, although it might include elements of pastoral counseling

  • mental health intervention

  • comprehensive recovery program

  • typical ‘healing and deliverance session’ ie: you state your problem so you can be prayed for

What can you expect:

  • relaxed atmosphere and open conversation focused on your needs and desires; my main approach is to listen deeply to your heart and serve you to the best of my ability; I want to accompany you on your way to integrating your self and becoming the person you were created to be

  • other than just talking through the session, you might be offered a safe space to express your emotions in a nonverbal way

  • confidentiality (unless self-harm or harm of another person’s life is expressed and needs intervention)

  • you may want to have your session done while taking a walk, upon your request

  • some prayer, depending on the situation, but you will never be forced to do something you will find not comfortable at the moment

  • tasks assigned after each session

  • whatever sensitive information will be disclosed during Heart Time sessions it will have no consequences on your STF missionary position, responsibility or commitment

What should you bring:

  • pen and paper or journal; if you are 100% digital, your phone or tablet
